LOGISTICIAN / LOGISTICS OFFICER - MINING
DIVISION: PROCUREMENT
REPORTING TO: GROUP PROCUREMENT MANAGER
LOCATION: JOHANNESBURG
Our client, a reputable player in the industry, is seeking a Logistician / Logistics officer with the relevant experience in the mining industry to join their innovative, professional, energetic, and enthusiastic team in Johannesburg, South Africa!
Primary Mission: The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing processes involved in the supply chain and liaises with a variety of parties, including suppliers of raw materials, manufacturers, retailers and freight companies. The Logistician is to analyze and coordinate the logistical functions and will be responsible for the entire cycle of a product, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery and final disposal of resources.
Required Profile:
• BCom Degree with specialisation in Logistics
• Minimum of 5 years experience working within a Logistics department
• Minimum of 3 years experience managing Logistical efforts
• Relevant experience within the South African context
• Experience with many logistical interfaces, not only with airfreight and sea freight
• Relevant experience within the Mining Industry
• Experience in customs clearance
• Experience in rate negotiation
• Experience with using the relevant computer software e.g. Microsoft Office
Core Accountabilities:
• Use computers and computer systems to set up functions, enter data, or process information

• Judging / Assessing the Value / Qualities of Things, Services, or People
• Making Decisions and Problem Solving- Analyzing / evaluating results to choose the best solution Analyzing Data or Information- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts
• Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards
• Getting Information- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
• Scheduling Work and Activities- Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others
• Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events
• To coordinate the team effort and activities in improving production efficiency
• Responsible for meeting daily operational matrix such as quality; shipment and cost
• Expedite urgent materials to support operations
• Inventory tracking and management
• Reporting on logistical operations
• Establishes and maintains an information database in terms of the type of equipment or goods distributed, size and shape of the delivery and cubic meters that was required on the distribution vehicle and the type of distribution mechanism whether it be air freight or sea freight along with cost to company
• Develop logistics performance report on a monthly basis, which includes monthly and yearly savings
• Utilise the delivery packaging tool of PASTEL to facilitate the logistics process
