Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks/Motorcycle/DFMEA

Major Trike manufacturer located in central Virginia is seeking a qualified, experienced engineer with some level of project management experience to join our Research and Development team. This is an opportunity to be a part of a growing company that manufactures high quality after market motorcycle conversion kits, trailers and accessories

Responsibilities:

-> Design of components and systems to meet functional requirements
-> Work on product design in R & D engineering environment
-> Work with suppliers on component product design as well as interact with manufacturing, assembly and purchasing internally
-> Define, instrument, collect and coordinate testing of parts and components
-> Prepare and present product plans, Bills of Materials, Production time lines and schedules
-> Conduct DFMEA and present results
-> Coordinate prototype construction, sample parts and first production runs as well as implement final designs into production

Requirements:

-> Previous Motorcycle experience (10 years total engineering experience with a minimum 5 years experience in the motorcycle industry and 4-5 years in project management and design)
-> BSME in mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a thorough knowledge of engineering practices and principles
-> Hands on experience in machining, metal fabrication and welding
-> Strong SolidWorks experience Alias and CAD a plus
-> Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
-> Experience with FEA a plus
-> PC experience with Word, Excel, Scheduling and Power Point
-> Must have a passion for motorcycles and a knowledge of motorcycle fundamentals as well as be an experienced, licensed operator

• Do you have a valid VA state motorcycle operators licence? If not, where do you?

• Have you worked performing Finite Element Analysis before? In what capacity?

• Please describe your experience with Solidworks?
