Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technologist degree with relevant technical experience, as recognized by APEGGA
6 to 10 years of progressive experience in plant related design maintenance activities.
Previous related experience in power plant design/operations would be an asset
Hands on experience in field related activities and Discipline design experience (Controls) would be an asset
Additional recognized professional education or training may offset experience requirements
A registered designation is beneficial and preference will be given to the candidate with a technical aptitude and the ability to multi-task within a project team environment
Responsibilities:
Ensuring projects are delivered on time/budget and the equipment and materials are utilized according to the required standards
Planning, prioritizing and managing work with team members, external partners, project designers and engineers
Gathering and compiling applicable information and participating in project scoping
Establishing and continuously improving standards, procedures, specifications and templates
Progress reporting to Project Managers and Management
Quality Assurance and Quality Control of completed drawings and designs
Responsible to conceptualize and create controls philosophy from initial design and/or oversee a team of designers during project design and development
Responsible to provide support and guidance to third-party engineering and drafting service
Responsible to produce highly advanced complex, and innovative designs in a specialized field
Providing sound judgement in the planning of tasks and choice of methods (methods are for the most part detailed and standard but will vary from project to project)
Taking accountability for the accuracy and quality of the design resources (internal or external)
Escalating unusual or sensitive situation and /or issues to team members and /or management.
Making decisions governed by general policies, standards and external requirements.
Acting in the best interest of the company by interacting with external engineer firms to develop design packages and review packaged designs
Coordinating special projects as needed
Requirements:
Innovative, self motivated, and able to work and contribute in a team environment
Willing to challenge traditional industry standards
Ability to embrace and lead changes
Knowledgeable in gas and compression plant designs
Knowledgeable of Codes and Acts applicable to the above systems
Good oral and written communication
