Mining Operations Manager: Bilingual (English/Mandarin) Vancouver, BC, Canada/China
China's largest primary silver producer, a public company headquartered in Vancouver, BC, is seeking an experienced bilingual (English/Mandarin) Mining Operations Manager.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Management of all aspects of operations, including mining, milling, sales, government and community relations;
Ensuring the achievement of production goals and budgets;
Manage contract mining;
Provide technical direction to engineering and mining team(s); and
Ensure that operations maintain compliance with local and provincial agencies regarding safety and environmental compliance.
The ideal candidate would have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
Leading an organization from “adequacy” to “best in the business” by driving improvements in mine planning, extraction and operations;
Understanding and managing financial results (demonstration of strong analytical and financial skills);
Establishing individual performance goals;
Implementing major projects on time and on budget;
Managing environmental and safety requirements for compliance with laws and policies;
Ability to blend coaching, modeling, managing and recruiting to effectively drive improved results, develop followers and strengthen the operations team;
Exceptional organization skills and problem solving abilities;
Passion for project results and demand for excellence and high degree of initiative, motivation and commitment;
Exceptional interpersonal and communicaton skills;
Good presentation skills using PowerPoint to illustrate exploration and mine planning projects, cost, timing, alternatives and contingencies;
Able to work effectively across all levels of an organization from senior management to the hourly workforce; and
Demonstrated skills in mine planning software (i.e. Surpac or Mincom) and surveying with GPS is highly prefered.
A bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent is required. A minimum of 15 years of practical operational and mine planning experience, preferable underground mining experience, is also preferable.
