Purpose
• The position will lead the Australian Business Unit subsurface assessment of Coal Seam Gas program. A GGRE team of 3 individuals will work with other disciplines to complete a wide range of objectives in support of objectives. The team lead will be responsible for forecasting, project review and assessment, resource model construction and updates, LRP inputs, and reserves booking. A key focus of the job will be to insure best practices are shared between existing Coal Seam Gas operations and joint venture partner. The team lead role will be responsible for mentoring junior staff and expanding the understanding of Coal Seam Gas within the GGRE staff and the BU.
Qualifications/Competencies
• BS in petroleum engineering or BS / MS in geology
• Thorough understanding of Coal Seam Gas recovery and production mechanisms and completion technology
• Thorough understanding of Coal Seam Gas exploration and appraisal methods and interpretation of pilot performance
• Ability to assess resource potential and reserves from volumetric analysis and production trends
• D&RA skills / major project forecasting and economic assessment
• Understanding of SEC guidelines on Coal Seam Gas reserves and experience booking CSG reserves required
• Leadership & influence skills (Team lead experience a plus)
Experience
• +10 years experience as an reservoir engineer or development geologist
• +5 years direct Coal Seam Gas experience in a BU environment with development, appraisal (pilot production) and exploration expertise
Direct Reports
• No direct reports but must act as a technical team lead of a small GGRE team
Key Relationships within Company
• Supervisor, Asset Team members and other personnel in existing support organizations (eg. Drilling, Projects, etc), Global Chief Reservoir Engineer and Geologist
HSE Roles and Responsibilities
Give full support to the policies, goals efforts and programs of the Australasia Division, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system. Actively participate in implementation process of the HSE management and ensure that HSE issues are given primary consideration in all job activities/tasks undertaken within the area of responsibility. Unsafe acts and/or conditions no matter in what area of responsibility are to be reported so corrective actions can be taken.
Take an active role in promoting HSE policy and initiatives with staff.
Proactive in identifying and reporting safety issues within the office.
Accountabilities
Resource Modelling / Assessment of Exploration & Appraisal Results
• Model risk and uncertainty of future wells along with success of exploration & appraisal wells
• Generate a risked production profile and capture impact of schedule to demonstrate how quickly the resource base can be built (P1 and P2) and how this ties to LNG train FID’s
• Assess progress of exploration, appraisal, development drilling (updating resource model)
AFE / Funding Requests / Project Review
• Routine Peer Review / leading to Peer Assists (influence the operator)
• Validate flowstreams, development plans, risks, costs, value proposition
LRP / Production Forecasting
• Develop fully risked base case production profile that matches to Capex and Opex and future development plans
• Build out specific production wedges associated with major development initiatives
• Routine forecast updates (2+10 etc.) and complete production variance analysis
Production Database
• Work with joint venture partner to develop an effective production database that is updated regularly
Reserves
• Booking reserves. Data preparation, interaction with joint venture partner and consultant, PD reserves on trends, PUD on volumetric. All fit to contract gas volumes and calculation of SMOG and economics
