The Company
SAS is a Canadian gold mining and exploration company with gold production facilities at its Holloway‐Holt Mine east of Timmins, Ontario, Canada. SAS has made a positive production decision to recommence mining and milling activities at its Holloway‐Holt Properties.. The Company is focused on exploration, development and mining operations in major gold mining regions and stable political environments such as the Timmins mining district in Ontario, Canada.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, you will lead the development of the strategic mine plan for the Holloway mine. In this role, you will be responsible for providing the professional mine engineering expertise to bring the site into production and plan for future production.
Responsibilities
 Develop and optimize mine designs, production procedures and systems, mine production planning, scheduling and drill and blast designs ensuring safety and efficiency Monitor realization of targets for production, grade quality of ore, utilization of workforce and equipment and submit regular reports on costs and performance of mining and projects
 Ensure the mine operates in a manner consistent with existing department policies, programs, procedures and legislative/regulatory requirements
 Ensure that production targets are achieved and mineral resource extraction optimized
 Work with the Chief Mine Engineer to develop annual strategic plans and life of mine plans
 Determine the appropriate means of safely and efficiently mining gold deposits
 Participate in safety, environmental and quality control processes and initiatives
 Facilitate problem solving and implementation of solutions, in liaison with geologists
 Perform rock mechanics work, as required
 Coach and mentor junior mine engineers and mine planners
Requirements
 A BSc Mine Engineering with a minimum of 3 to 6 years of progressive “hands on” professional experience, with the majority in underground mining
 Registered (or eligible for registration) with the Professional Engineers Ontario
 High level of computer literacy as applied to mine engineering
 Skills to produce mine plans using software such as Mine 2‐4D, A‐Mine, AutoCAD and advanced Excel
 Must be familiar with long hole and cut/fill methods of mining
 Must be familiar with underground ventilation methods and the use of ventilation software such as VnetPC.
 Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills
 The capability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative and energetic environment
