GHD is working in collaboration with Queensland Rail and the Department of Main Roads on a project called The Horizon Alliance. The Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor Project is a major transport project for South East Queensland to service the future transport needs to the growing population in the greater Springfield area.

An opportunity has arisen for a Communications Coordinator (12 month contract) to join our Stakeholder & Community Engagement team based at the project office in Richlands. The key function of this appointment is to assist in the development and implementation of communication and community engagement strategies for The Horizon Alliance and associated projects.

Reporting to the Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager, the main responsibilities of this role will include:

Assist in the implementation of the Media Relations Plan, coordinate media monitoring and analysis

Provide media advice to relevant Horizon spokespeople, respond to media requests as appropriate and develop speech notes

Provide positive stakeholder and community engagement to ensure consistent and effective communications are maintained for the project

Present and engage with the community on behalf of the Project as directed

Preparation of publications to support the Community Engagement Plan, which may include media releases, flyers/ brochures, notifications, web content, advertisements, production and development of construction notices, project newsletter, site communications, and project events information

Coordinate and manage stakeholder visits to the project site

Assist in the handling community enquiries via the 1800 number, email and other communication channels to ensure appropriate systems are utilised for records

In conjunction with other Stakeholder and Community Engagement team members, maintain the stakeholder database and complaints register as per management process

Liaise with Project team to keep informed of construction works and alert the Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager and the team of possible disruption/ changes and issues

Assist in the tracking of activity and KPI information

Contribute to internal communication initiatives

Assist in the preparation of communication materials including awards submissions, presentation materials and other industry submissions

Provide analysis and reports on issues management and identification

Assist in the implementation of the crisis management and crisis communication

Coordinate client approvals as required

This pivotal role will require a team member with a minimum of 2 years experience combined with the following:

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office

Tertiary qualification in Journalism/Communication or similar

Ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with others

High attention to detail

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Media awareness

Understanding of community consultation mechanisms

Understanding of the Construction Industry

Planning and organising skills
