After being at the forefront in the provision of transmission and distribution solutions for over 100 years, instrumental in the development and construction of the modern power substation - and the automated systems that control them - and having met the challenges of rising energy consumption through innovations in R&D, my client continues to experience rapid growth. In keeping with this strategy, they seek to appoint an Operations Manager - Substation Automation.

Reporting to the Unit's MD, and drawing on your extensive knowledge of substation control systems and protection schemes, the Operations Manager is charged with the responsibility for the delivery of Substation Automation projects and support systems.
The operations Manager is responsible for a team of 6 people who will assist in the management of significant projects. This is both a hands-on project role as well as a team management role where you are expected to conduct performance reviews, set team objectives and monitor KPI's i.e. managing at resource levels and the overall performance of your team.

Ideally, the person that we seek is a Project Manager who is capable of moving into an operations role. Where you have managed teams for relatively short project durations (i.e. for the purpose of each project), this is more of an ongoing, longer-term, project/team management role requiring operational skills in addition to the extensive protection and control systems knowledge that we seek.

If you possess the relevant tertiary qualification, not only possess extensive substation automation project manage experience but can also demonstrate a successful delivery history and can form strong relationships and work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, bringing these projects to successful completion, then this is an exciting opportunity. A generous salary package as well as an annual performance bonus will be offered to the successful candidate.
