Coeur Alaska is recruiting a Project Engineer for its Kensington Gold Mine, presently under construction, located 45 miles north of Juneau, Alaska.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for overseeing design and construction of special projects associated with surface operations at an underground gold mine.
Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace while supporting environmental policies and regulations.
The Project Engineer will support the Surface Operations and Environmental Department in environmental compliance, camp operations, transportation of materials and employees along with special projects as required.
Develops drawings, technical specifications, material lists, quality control plans, cost estimates and work plans for new projects along with improving and maintaining existing systems will be required.
Oversees surface operations projects to assure design and quality control objectives are achieved will be an essential function of this position.
Identifies cost effective solutions to environmental, civil and operational challenges and implements through coordination with other affected Departments.
Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mine Engineering or related engineering field plus 3-5 years of directly related experience preferred. Solid proficiency with Microsoft office and engineering software computer applications are required. Experience in civil design and coordinating construction projects along with a working knowledge of Alaska State and federal regulatory programs is essential. Candidates are able to work independently and to accept responsibility, communicate effectively, orally and in writing, get along with diverse personalities, be tactful, mature and flexible. Good reasoning skills, being well organized, and the ability to work well under pressure are desired.
