The Company
Our ASX & TSX listed client is a highly successful gold mining company operating in West Africa who are currently seeking an exceptional Power Station Electrical Supervisor to manage the site’s power facilities and to coach and mentor the local national team.
The Role
Reporting to the Processing Manager, this position will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of a 24Mw HFO Power Station with 5 x 18VN32LN Wartsila engines installed operating on HFO.
Additionally, the role shall be committed to developing the national workforce leading them in their day to day activities within the power station.
The Requirements
To successfully fulfil the requirements of this role, applicants must be able to demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:
A recognised Electrical Engineering qualification
A recognised High Voltage accreditation
Significant power station experience and specifically in Wartsila HFO’s
An understanding of isochronous generator power distribution
A proven track record in a similar role working with a national workforce (preferably African)
Experience and accreditation for working on overhead lines, ring-mains and transformers
Sound knowledge of electrical control systems
Up to date knowledge of permit systems and safe work practices
Ability and commitment to train and mentor local staff
Ability to coordinate and set KPI’s for staff
Ability to write and deliver quality reports in a timely manner
An excellent team player
A high degree of physical fitness
Previous African experience in a supervisory role is highly desirable
An appreciation and awareness of working in a foreign country with cultural sensitivities is an absolute must
French language skills (desirable)
