GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)

Under the direction of the V.P. Engineering, plan, direct and manage all activities involved with the Professional Services Group. This will involve the day to day management, administration and long-term planning for the Group.

Manage the detailed engineering and feasibility work undertaken by the company for U.S. operations, utilizing the resources of the engineering and operations groups to maintain continuity from feasibility to implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
• Work in compliance with U.S. federal and state regulatory and statutory requirements for Health and Safety
• Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation applicable to outside clients and Operations Groups projects
• Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety Department

CLIENT FOCUS
• Ensure that Operations’ goals and objectives are completely understood and communicated to the US Engineering Group
• Strive to satisfy our external clients’ needs and always clarify/communicate with them how the engineering group can best meet their objectives in terms of resources, cost and schedule
• Follow-up with all clients on services provided and determine level of satisfaction and how services can be improved (this is a requirement of our ISO certification)

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Engineering business planning, development and marketing;
• Engineering project management as required;
• Assisting the contracting group with business development and support, as well as tendering work and estimation;
• Provide backup and support to the VP Engineering during times of absence or when circumstances dictate;
• Identify required resources within group to meet company objectives, source and hire in consultation with the VP Engineering;
• Identify disciplinary action required within the U.S. Engineering Group and take action in consultation with the VP Engineering;
• Approve semi-monthly timesheets for the U.S. Engineering group;
• Establish and update yearly budget requirements for the U.S. Engineering group;
• Conduct yearly PDR’s and salary reviews for the U.S. Engineering group, including establishing performance factors for profit sharing purposes;
• Ensure a high level of reimbursability amongst the U.S. Engineering group (project work);
• Maintain a personal high level of reimbursability (project work);
• Work with other intercompany engineering groups to achieve the U.S. operations and company’s objectives.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

The incumbent must have advanced knowledge of the following software:
• Microsoft Office Suite;
• Microsoft Project;
• General knowledge of AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and manage engineering staff on a daily basis to ensure productivity, attendance and reimbursabilty on project work
• Ensure good communication between co-workers and other company groups

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION – BSc in Mining engineering preferred (other disciplines will be considered with relevant mining experience)

CERTIFICATE(S), LICENSE(S), REGISTRATION(S) - Registered Professional Engineer designation (state of Utah preferred)

EXPERIENCE – Minimum 15 years in construction mining design or related construction design

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
• Good communication skills
• Organization
• Planning
• Forecasting
• Project management experience.
• General knowledge of applicable mining regulations, safety codes and acts.
• Familiar with underground excavation and construction of mine development, shafts, raises and construction for mine infrastructure.
• Familiar with estimating and able to scheduling using MS Project.
