Reports To: Mine Manager

Position Summary

The Chief Mining Engineer is accountable to the Mine Manager for the development of short, medium and long term mine extraction plans to optimize the profitable development of the mine ore body. All plans will be developed and scheduled consistent with safe and geotechnically sound world class mining principles as well as optimizing the financial objectives of the business. The incumbent will provide leadership, development and direction to his subordinate staff to ensure that the business objectives of the Company are consistently achieved. The incumbent will deputize for the Mine Manager in his absence.

Accountabilities

• Safety, health and well being of all subordinate personnel
• Generation of mine plans and schedules to meet the objectives of the Company’s business plans
• Managing to ensure compliance and optimizing deliverables for the Company
• Liaising with the Mill Operations group to ensure optimal delivery of ore blends on a consistent basis
• Tight cost control within approved guidelines
• Leading a participative Mine Planning and Engineering team to recommend and implement enhanced business performance through cost reduction, capacity increase or quality improvement

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years International experience in Mine Planning and Engineering.
• Prior experience in Latin America preferable
• Proven leadership skills and abilities to develop local staff
• English/Spanish communication skills strongly preferred
• Hands on management style encouraging participative and entrepreneurial input but with clearly focused business goals
