In the resource sector, the most important activity that companies invest in is drilling. Without exploration drilling there is no joy, it's simple, you have to know for sure where your resources are. Backing this up with development and production, all of this critical work around Australia means this drilling contractor has never been busier.

Supporting the drilling operations is a team of engineering professionals which now requires a Melbourne-based Site Engineer to work across various operational locations on rotation from headquarters on an approximately 3:1 split between office and site.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have tertiary qualifications in Civil, Geotechnical or Mining Engineering preferably combined with a commercial qualification. You should have some field experience with mining or drilling operations and be ready to take the next step to crystalise your career in a true commercial sense

Your accountabilities will include:

Preparation of the pre-tendering process ensuring technical and commercial milestones are achievable and competitive with the final Bid.
Managing the relationships with sub-contractors whilst ensuring quality standards are met within the commercial terms agreed.
Assisting the Contracts Manager through the identification of non-conformance, variations and negotiation of optimal outcomes.
Driving QA by being pro-active with maintaining the quality system register and championing the auditing process.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be directly mentored by Site Supervisors at site to assist with your knowledge of drilling operations and at head office by the Contracts Manager for the commercial aspects of the role which will encompass Bids, Tenders, Contracts Administration and Quality Assurance.

This role would suit an aspiring career engineering professional with a strong commercial acumen and a good level of field experience. This is truly a developmental role that encompasses all of the key facets required to become a top flight Commercial Manager in the Drilling Industry.
