Our Client:
Our client is an integrated oil and gas company with operations within Canada and internationally. The company currently holds a substantial land base of oil sands leases in Northern Alberta which will result in full field development producing over 200,000 bbl/d. The Oil sands Pilot is coming on stream in 2010 at 20,000 bbl/d with plans for further expansion, and the current 10,000 bbl/d SAGD facility is on schedule. The second Oil sands Project is in the planning phase for developing a 40,000 bbl/d commercial plant. The company is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator who will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring safety programs for site personnel to ensure that our shared goal of zero injuries is met. The position will provide HSE expertise to the growing Operations organization and will provide day¡Vto-day guidance to improve HSE performance.
This is a field based position with a rotational schedule (7 days on / 7 days off or 4 days on/ 3 days off).
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Safety Supervisor.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
„h Act as the key point of contact on site for health and safety issues.
„h Activities will focus on inspections, safety meetings, safety communications, incident investigations and statistical documentation.
„h The individual¡¦s success is critical to the company¡¦s success in the operating area.
„h Position will provide expertise in emergency response training and planning as well as other HSE areas.
Skills/Qualifications:
„h Solid technical background with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of health and safety experience (including a working knowledge of: regulations, codes, behaviourbased approaches to safety management and auditing techniques.
„h A range of hands-on experience with a minimum of 5 years experience in oil and gas plant operations or similar industry experience.
„h Drilling experience would be an asset.
„h The ability to work with different stakeholders and bring them together to achieve a common goal.
„h The ability and maturity to identify problem areas, raise issues with the appropriate individuals and help indentify and implement solutions.
„h The ability to work productively in a dynamic work environment.
Compensation/Remuneration:
Compensation will include competitive base salary, bonus, long term incentive, pension, savings, and excellent benefits package.
