Location: Saudi Arabia MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: MS or PhD. Petroleum Engineering or equivalent technical field.
Experience: 15 years of related experience including 10 years of intensive experience in petrophysical specialty.
A thorough understanding of openhole, LWD and production log analysis and interpretation techniques is required. The candidate should be very familiar with computer software techniques used for log analysis. Experience in core analysis, specialty logs and horizontal/high angle log interpretation is essential. The candidate must be clearly recognized by supervisors and colleagues as thoroughly qualified and highly competent in an area of expertise. The applicant must have demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly to work effectively with others and to utilize technical knowledge to achieve practical results. The candidate must have outstanding technical capability in area of specialty and have the confidence of Management in incumbent's ability to analyze situations and recommend practical solutions in area of expertise. Additionally, because of prior industry experience, outside contacts should also recognize applicant's technical expertise. Must be able to represent Saudi Aramco effectively and command technical respect.
Candidate typically will be active in related professional societies and will have achieved professional recognition through publications, committee activities, etc. Intensive industry training including appropriate specialized courses and seminars is expected. The candidate will have demonstrated research capabilities with published results of petrophysical work.
PRIMARY DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES: Provide expert advice and assistance on petrophysical issues. The applicant will provide technical leadership in the design of: 1) cost-effective logging and formation evaluation programs, 2) data quality assurance systems, 3) enhanced petrophysical models, 4) innovative petrophysical studies and 5) comprehensive data archiving programs. The candidate will also support operations by doing field reviews, analyzing logs and providing technical support to operational petrophysicists. Other duties include preparing reports for senior management, developing active mentoring programs for junior engineers, conducting technical seminars, preparing training manuals, acting as a Task Force Leader to solve special problems in area of expertise, leading and participating in internal project technical reviews, authoring technical papers, taking leadership positions in local and international professional meetings and representing Saudi Aramco in technical meetings with Service and other Operating Companies. The candidate will originate ideas for improvements, develops a basis for required field testing and management review, analyses results and recommends new or changed procedures and processes. The candidate will identify and complete applied research projects designed to enhance petrophysical methods. The applicant will actively present and publish the results of technical projects. Must have the ability and desire to train Saudi national engineers and relate well to fellow employees, with different cultural backgrounds and nationalities. The candidate must work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and must be experienced in preparing and delivering technical presentations.
