Think Opportunity

We are looking for Hydromet Process Technicians to be part of a multi-skilled shift crew. You will safely operate a section of the plant to ensure realisation of the Production Plan. The Hydromet uses a Acid leach/ Solvent extraction process to remove metals (copper and uranium) from ore and refine to final products. Copper solvent extraction results in the production of a concentrated copper sulphate solution for copper recovery in the electrowinning plant.

Think Purpose

Work in the Hydromet is undertaken with minimal supervision, once training is completed. Much of the work involves monitoring the process, however there are periods of intensive activity where excellent process knowledge and decision making skills are needed. You will be required to conduct first-level maintenance in the area to support the maintenance team and ensure that the plant is operating safely. There are opportunities for you to be self-directed and to exercise judgement regarding potential issues with the process through your regular inspections of the plant. There is a requirement to exercise initiative and to communicate issues and reports to line management in a timely manner.

There is considerable work with chemicals in this role and therefore there is a requirement to ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is used as well as following safety procedures and exercising caution. The Hydromet is predominantly an open air environment and spread over a considerable area. Technicians must cover a lot of ground in order to carry out their duties including climbing up and down stairs in order to inspect their operational areas.

Think Requirements

You will be a self-motivated person who likes process-driven work in a busy environment. You will need to be physically fit and alert, as these roles involve sometimes working at heights and in confined spaces.

Ideally, you will have experience with Hydromet and Solvent Extraction plant operations, Control Room operations and CITECT. A solid team ethic, a drive to succeed and a commitment to learning and safety will see you thrive in this role.
