BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina is the joint venture operation of BHP Billiton, Japan Alumina Associates and Sojitz Alumina. As a member of the world’s largest diversified resources company, Worsley manages a bauxite mine and alumina refinery in Western Australia’s South West and offers candidates an enviable choice of lifestyle, based in the state’s picturesque South West.

Each year we source and select students to participate in our Vacation Student Program, offering students the opportunity to work in a team environment where they can apply their studies in a practical way.

The program runs during the Australian summer to coincide with the university summer vacation period, commencing early December 2009 and concluding late February 2010. All positions are paid and accommodation will be provided where required.

To be eligible for the Vacation Student Program, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or have the right to work in Australia.

You must also be currently studying one of the following disciplines:

* Chemical Engineering
* Mechanical Engineering
* Electrical Engineering
* Human Resources / Community Relations
* Process Control Engineering
* Chemistry

To be considered, you will need to demonstrate:

* A strong orientation to safe work practices
* Sound academic results
* Willingness to be placed near our refinery at Worsley
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Initiative
* Sound judgement, problem solving and organisational skills
