The Gregory Joint Venture is one of eight mines and a port owned and operated by the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance. The mine employs approximately 330 people and produces 5.5 million raw tonnes of high quality coking coal per annum. The mine is located 50km from the township of Emerald which has a population of approximately 14,000. Emerald is a large modern regional centre based on rural, tourism and service industries as well as mining, and boasts an excellent range of services and facilities.

We are seeking to appoint a Human Resources Advisor in a 12 month Fixed Term capacity who will report to the Human Resources Manager. The successful appointee will provide a range of human resources functions to the management and employees of Gregory Crinum Mine.

As an integral member of the HR team, you will contribute to the effective delivery of the Human Resources strategic plan to your functional department to ensure appropriate numbers, skills, motivation and performance of employees.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Efficiently managing recruitment programmes to attract suitable employees.

• Providing assistance and coaching to supervisors and employees on development and performance related initiatives.

• Working with stakeholders to foster a co-operative, continuous improvement business environment.

• Supporting functional departments by providing timely and accurate HR information and advice.

• Communicating and implementing company policies and procedures.

The successful candidate must have:

• Human Resources or related experience, working largely unsupervised.

• Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret information, and inform others with accuracy, tact and diplomacy.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) with demonstrated ability to deal with people at all levels.

• An understanding of employment law.

• Excellent computer literacy including the Microsoft suite of applications.

Preference is for applicants with a tertiary degree in Human Resources or a related discipline and a high level of demonstrated relevant experience. Strong influencing skills and an ability to coach and mentor frontline leaders around effective leadership, performance management and modern HR principles is essential.
