PURPOSE

Assist in the economic evaluation function for the Base Metals CSG. This includes evaluation quality assurance for new business opportunities, existing businesses and divestments. The successful candidate will interact with multiple levels of management.

The role will act in either an assist capacity or governance capacity depending on the situation. The successful candidate will be part of a small team responsible for valuation capability development throughout Base Metals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

* An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
* Assist in providing valuation advice throughout Base Metals with a focus on issues most relevant to decisions.
* Assist teams to bring investments through BHP Billiton’s investment system. This includes development of valuation models and performance of valuation reviews (including detailed model audits).
* Assist in coordination with mine planning specialists to ensure integration of life-of-asset plans and asset valuations.
* Assistance in the development and/or review of commodity price protocols.
* Assist in training and development of other team members to strengthen valuation skills, including workshop facilitation for multidisciplinary audiences.
* Preparing and delivering presentations, reports & submissions in an objective and comprehensive form.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Business or technical university degree or higher, preferably with some combination (e.g., MBA)
* 5 - 8 years of professional experience.
* Broad mining industry knowledge.
* Experience in valuation and related fields preferably including decision analysis, financing, and/or structuring.
* Understanding of macroeconomics and price issues.
* Good working knowledge of corporate finance theory (e.g., CAPM, options).
* Project experience (advocacy and review).
* Country risk analysis.
* Macro-economics (incl. foreign exchange).
* Review or negotiation of commercial and legal documents.
* Fully fluent in English and Spanish.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Personal Leadership.
