Position Synopsis
As a motivated and team spirited individual, you will ensure all maintenance and repair services comply with all relevant contracts, policies and procedures whilst ensuring they perform their works safely, effectively and efficiently to the quality and standard required for the organisation.
Other accountabilities will include:
* Undertaking the role of Company Representative for engaging and managing Contractors for the Newman Whaleback Mine Site;
* Establishing and maintaining standards in the Contract & Services Section, which are consistent with Department and Company safety objectives, and ensuring these standards are appropriate, understood and complied with at all times;
* Monitor all performance and services against contractual KPI’s and implement corrective actions where necessary;
* Ensuring Contractor repairs and installations are in accordance with the current Australian Standards, Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations;
* Carrying out audits and checks on the contractors to ensure compliance with their safety management systems and BHP Billiton Iron Ore safety requirements;
* Authorising and prioritising planning including maintaining GSAP as required;
* Monitoring contract work activities against scheduled maintenance plans ensuring quality and timely completion;
* Participating in continuous improvement activities;
* Cover areas for periods of leave and absences as required;
* Maintain relationships with all departments as required to obtain optimal performance from equipment;
* Participate in budget preparation as required.
Skills and Experience
Ideally you will ideally be trade qualified coupled with supervisory experience. Mining or construction experience is essential and supervisory experience is preferred. Prior experience with computer based planning systems.
Location
This role is based in Newman, a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level.
Local conditions apply: this role is only open to people who can supply their own housing in Newman in accordance with BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Housing policy.
