Position Synopsis

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Field Technician to join our planning and quality group at Newman. In this role, you will be responsible for:

* Sample collection;
* Supply of consumables and logistical support to all exploration drilling programmes and field activities;
* Timely and accurate electronic dispatch of exploration geochemical samples to laboratories;
* Conduct diamond core and RC sample photography including upload into BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s database;
* Conduct bulk density and other geo-metallurgical test work as required;
* Maintain core and pulp sheds in good working order including archiving and retrieval systems;
* Responsibility for flocculant preparation in support of down hole logging activities;
* Assist in the generation and update of procedures and that all related work instructions, manuals and JHA’s are up to date;
* Inspect working areas to ensure that correct operating procedures are being followed; and
* Be aware and Support the BHP Billiton Iron Ore Health Safety Environment and Community (HSEC) policies.

Skills and Experience

You will have sound computer skills and ideally will have experience in a similar role. You will exhibit a proven team-spirited approach, effective communication skills and a strong commitment to safety. A valid WA drivers license is essential and a HR highly regarded.

Location

This is a residential role based in Newman, a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level.
