Initially reporting to the Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Supervisor as Sourcing and Contracts Practitioner you will be responsible for delivering assigned strategic sourcing, contract and procurement services to all areas of the mine site. With extensive knowledge of category management, tender preparation and a strong strategic sourcing and contracts background you will have a proven track record in the life-cycle of categories and contracts from within a mining or heavy industry environment. Based in Brisbane you will be required to liaise with mine site personnel and therefore travel to site at Groote Eylandt, NT at frequent intervals.

Duties will include:

* Managing the lifecycle of categories of services and commodities
* Management of sourcing, tendering and award process for assigned service and commodity contracts whilst ensuring achievement of key supply milestones
* Developing and evaluating contracts in line with HSECQ and commercial requirements
* Ensuring contracts comply with BHP Billiton fatal risk control protocols and HSEC Management Standards
* Working with Supply customers to negotiate positive outcomes through the sourcing and contract management process
* Ensuring that all correspondence and contract documentation is managed effectively and efficiently
* Delivering sound and sustainable savings to the business through your sourcing expertise and negotiation skills
* Managing suppliers’ performance
* Managing supply, vendor and contract risk
* Contributing to the establishment of a robust infrastructure aimed at retaining and transferring knowledge within the Supply department.

Essential Requirements:

* Tertiary qualification in Business Administration or equivalent and
* Significant category, sourcing and contract management experience, preferably from within a mining or heavy industry environment
* Effective written and verbal communication across all levels of the organisation
* An understanding of relevant legal requirements in administering contracts
* Proven high level computer literacy including MS Office, SAP and procurement systems
