BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is the world’s largest seaborne coking coal supplier. It operates nine mine sites and a coal loading port in Central Queensland. Located 30 minutes south of Mackay, and close to the magnificent Whitsunday Islands, the Hay Point Coal Terminal handles coal from BMA's coal mines in Central Queensland. The throughput and productivity at Hay Point Services Coal Terminal make it one of the best in the world, as well as a great place to work.
The primary purpose of this role is the provision of leadership and technical expertise that delivers excellent structural engineering management to the Hay Point operation. This position is an essential part of the Engineering and Business Improvement team and reports directly to the Engineering and Business Improvement Manager.
Role responsibilities;
* Full commitment to safety, health, the community and the environment.
* Delivery and maintenance of the strategic plan to ensure ongoing integrity of site structural assets.
* Provision of structural, corrosion prevention and protective coating systems engineering services and management.
* Undertaking engineering investigations, feasibility studies, development of designs and estimates for engineering projects.
* Maintenance of structural technical specifications and procedures.
* Effective engagement and management of engineering and contractor teams performing project works.
* Strong participation as a vital member of the Engineering and Business Improvement team. This involves input into business plans, budgets and effective utilisation of the sites assets
* Site representative for all statutory structural requirements.
Role requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Exposure to structural engineering design, fabrication and installation.
* A minimum of 5 years experience in heavy industry, mining or bulk materials handling plant equipment and processes.
* Knowledge and/or experience with structural auditing of major assets and maintenance of large mobile machinery.
* Project management skills and experience.
* Experience and/or qualifications in leading, managing and developing people.
* Values driven, a positive attitude and well developed interpersonal skills.
* Previous experience with port operations will be an advantage, as will experience with SAP, FPe and other BMA/BHPB systems
A requirement of this position is the ability to obtain and retain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
