Peak Downs Mine is one of the largest open cut coal operations in the world, producing 9 million tonnes per annum of hard coking coal. It employs in excess of 800 people who reside in the nearby township of Moranbah, a modern, well-equipped township with all facilities, located 200km west of Mackay and the Whitsunday coast.
An opportunity exists for a skilled and experienced Electrical Tradesperson to join the team in Field Electrical Maintenance.
The successful candidate must have:
* A current Queensland Electrical Trade qualification.
* An ability to work and communicate well in a team environment,
* A strong commitment to ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace,
* The ability and aptitude to maintain high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with mine working procedures.
* Communication and interpersonal skills to enable interaction with both production and maintenance personnel
The following competencies/experience would give applicants a distinct advantage:
* Ward Lennard motor generator set and control thereof
* PLC programming, fault finding and troubleshooting of the Alan Bradley SLC 500 series and GE 90-30 PLC hardware utilising their respective software.
* Siemens Simoreg DC drives.
* SCR/Thyristor and IGBT converters and associated control (ie ABB DC drives and Siemens AC SIBAS control)
* High voltage switching and maintenance up to 66kV.
* Installation and maintenance of three phase and single-phase heavy industrial equipment.
* Understanding of three phase motors and related control.
* Understanding of DC motors and generators.
* Willingness to broaden own skills.
* Knowledge of computerised maintenance systems (SAP)
* Extensive knowledge and use of computers and software (i.e. word, excel, windows 2000).
* Previous experience in heavy industry
This is a day shift position and the salary will be paid in accordance with the BHP Coal Pty Ltd Workplace Agreement 2007.
