Peak Downs Mine is one of the largest open cut coal operations in the world, producing 9 million tonnes per annum of hard coking coal. It employs in excess of 800 people who reside in the nearby township of Moranbah, a modern, well-equipped township with all facilities, located 200km west of Mackay and the Whitsunday coast.

Reporting to the Mainenance Supervisor, an opportunity currently exists for a skilled and experienced Boilermaker in the Field Maintenance section of the Maintenance Department.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate:

* A Boilermaker Trade Qualification
* Several years experience in heavy industry
* An ability to work and communicate well in a team environment,
* A strong commitment to ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace,
* The ability and aptitude to maintain high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with mine working procedures.
* Communication and interpersonal skills to enable interaction with both production and maintenance personnel
* Experience in general fabrication and maintenance repairs.

The following qualifications/experience would be advantageous:

* Boom welding qualifications and experience
* Heavy fabrication and repairs.
* Mechanical Fitting Experience
* Operation of Medium vehicles, Forklifts and Non-slewing cranes

This is a day shift position and the salary will be paid in accordance with the BHP Coal Pty Ltd Workplace Agreement 2007.
