Peak Downs Mine is one of the largest open cut coal operations in the world, producing 9 million tonnes per annum of hard coking coal. It employs in excess of 800 people who reside in the nearby township of Moranbah, a modern, well-equipped township with all facilities, located 200km west of Mackay and the Whitsunday coast.

An opportunities exists for a Fitter within Field Maintenance, working directly with electrical and mechanical tradespersons on our large fleet of field equipment.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate:

* An ability to work and communicate well in a team environment,
* A strong commitment to ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace,
* The ability and aptitude to maintain high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with mine working procedures.
* Communication and interpersonal skills to enable interaction with both production and maintenance personnel
* A Mechanical Trade Qualification
* Several years experience in heavy industry.

It would be advantageous that the successful applicant have experience in:

* Operation of Medium vehicles, Forklifts and Non-slewing cranes
* Basic welding / fabrication and cutting
* Auto electrical - Diagnostics and new installations
* Hydraulics - Diagnostics and new installations

This is a day shift position and the salary will be paid in accordance with the BHP Coal Pty Ltd Workplace Agreement 2007.
