BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s mining operations in the spectacular Pilbara region of WA are one of the largest in the world, shipping more than 120Mtpa of iron ore. Our railways, consisting of more than 800km of track, connect our mines in the Pilbara with our shipping facilities in Port Hedland. The heavy haulage rail system, the heaviest in the world, with more than 100 locomotives and around 4,500 carriages, uses state of the art technology across all facets of the operation.
Position Synopsis
We require a responsible individual, to be accountable for the development of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance plans and schedules. You will ensure that each task planned is adequately resourced so that it can be performed in a timely, safe and efficient manner. You will work towards the department becoming part of the standard maintenance process across Iron Ore with SAP an enabler to achieving operating excellence.
You will be expected to apply expertise to our computerised maintenance management system (SAP) in addition to ensuring that maintenance KPI’s are closely monitored and reported in a safe and efficient manner.
With an eye on maintaining a high profile in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices, and actively supporting the Environmental Management systems, your key duties will include:
* Collaborating with Planners/Supervisors in reviewing the plans generated to ensure plans are logical and realistic;
* Ensuring task lists are developed and maintained with up to date job instructions and safety requirements;
* Assisting in developing, analysing and reporting the yearly works financial plan including Actual V planned;
* Preparing detailed work plans that include personnel, plant, equipment and parts availability for the timely and successful execution of work orders;
* Training of maintenance personnel in SAP usage, and other planning and scheduling packages;
* Managing off-site repairs of equipment; and
* Monitoring labour group materials expenditure against budget forecast.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have a mechanical trade background complemented with substantial post-trade experience in a related industry. Regardless of qualification, experience with operation and maintenance management will be favourably viewed. In addition demonstrated competence with computer based planning systems, such as SAP.
Credible and committed, you display effective communications skills, crucial to motivating team members, and presenting plans and ideas in a clear and concise manner.
Location
This is a residential role, based in Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Located on the coast, Port Hedland is the largest regional centre in the North West, close to Broome, Karratha and Karijini National Park. The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education service, entertainment, sporting, shopping and medical facilities, and a strong sense of community.
