Senior Mining Engineers at site and in the Resource Planning department work together closely to generate mining plans and schedules. The sites’ short and medium operations plans being driven by Resource Planning’s optimised long term plans.
Position Synopsis
Within Base Planning, the Senior Mining Engineer is accountable for the design of pits, stockpiles, dumps and general mine infrastructure for current and future operations ranging from 5 years through to life-of-asset. You will use your experience in mine planning processes and systems, design concepts, mine cost modelling to develop logical alternatives to existing mining methods.
Resource Planning is complemented by our mining operations’ planning engineers. As Senior Mine Planning Engineer at Yandi you will be responsible for planning and designing work for the operations, coordinating daily grade control and mine planning activities, and mentoring and coaching others within the group.
Skills and Experience
You will have a tertiary Mining Engineering qualification and experience in open pit mining operations or life of asset planning. As experienced achievement-oriented professionals, you will demonstrate initiative; practical problem-solving; and the ability to work collaboratively. Exposure to mine planning software such as Vulcan or XPAC will be highly regarded.
Commitment to safety is critical; you will embody and drive our safety culture, initiating improvements in WAIO through field time, observations and mentoring.
Location
FIFO employees work on a 9/5 roster from Perth. Flights are direct to site and are eligible for frequent flyer points. Yandi is a modern camp with modern facilities and a continual focus of creating a home away from home lifestyle.
The Perth based Resource Planning team is required to travel regularly to our Pilbara Operations.
