Gregory Crinum Mine is one of eight mines and a port owned and operated by the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance. The mine employs approximately 330 people and produces 4 million raw tonnes of high quality coking coal per annum. The mine is located 50km from the township of Emerald which has a population of approximately 14,000. Emerald is a large modern regional centre based on rural, tourism and service industries as well as mining, and boasts an excellent range of services and facilities..
A vacancy currently exists for a Contracts Superintendent, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The purpose of this role is to manage and co-ordinate contracts and contractors involved in a variety of civil and mining projects.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare Contract documentation, Technical Specifications and manage tender process if required;
• Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with mine and legislative requirements;
• Develop a positive and productive working relationship with contractors;
• Oversee and manage two direct reports, who will be supervising the day to day activities of the contractor operations;
• Ensure contractors adhere to safe work practices and undertake risk assessment where required;
• Review contract performance at contract completion.
• Accountability for BMA Contractor Management System
The successful applicant will have:
• Previous experience with the direct management of contractors and contract administration;
• A background in operations with relevant field experience;
• Excellent computer skills, knowledge of project management software would be advantageous;
• Expertise in financial reporting related to projects and contracts;
• A strong personal commitment to safety.
