GEMCO is seeking an outstanding individual for the position of Port Operations Shift Supervisor to be responsible for the safe, timely, cost effective planning, scheduling and implementation of the day to day operations port activities including but not limited to stacking, stockpiling, ship loading, towage and port facilities.
Reporting to the Port Operation Supervisor, this pivotal role must give full consideration to relevant safety standards, production requirements and department objectives. In addition the role will be accountable for supervision of a team of operator/maintainers and tradespersons.
The position will encompass the planning of breakdown & maintenance tasks in conjunction with maintenance personnel on shift. In addition this position will fulfil the role of Port Facility Security Officer in accordance with the GEMCO Maritime Security Plan.
Key tasks include, but are not limited to:
* Required to work a roster to directly manage a work team of operator/maintainers and tradespersons.
* Undertake training to accept responsibility for Port Security and act as a Port Facility Security Officer. (Criminal history check is mandatory).
* Supervise planned and breakdown maintenance in consultation with other port maintenance personnel.
* Promote, encourage and drive continuous improvement and safety in all port operations.
* Review the effectiveness of the standard operations procedures.
* Supervise the safe and efficient product stockpiling and reclaiming to ensure GEMCO and customer requirements for cargo quality and quantity are met.
* Alignment of resources to ensure ship loading rates are maximised and the timely and effective resolution of production delays
* Other activities as directed by the Port Operations Supervisor and Port Operations Superintendent.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience with bulk materials handling systems is essential.
* Knowledge and experience of Maintenance & Port Operations.
* Exposure to Maintenance Planning / Scheduling and work control processes.
* Experience with software packages including Microsoft Office, Outlook and GSAP (or equivalent).
* Good practical and troubleshooting skills.
* Strong supervisory and demonstrated leadership skills.
* Well developed communication and Interpersonal skills.
