ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Monitor hydrocarbon processing systems and associated utilities to ensure that the operation is in accordance with the design and that production rate is maximized within the existing constraints.
• Facilitate production all operations.
• Audit the activities of service providers in accordance with BHP Billiton’s procedures.
• Assist in the development of Tactical Plans in accordance with the Operations Management System.
• Monitor expenditures in accordance with operating budgets.
• Provide technical expertise in process optimization, process equipment operation, production optimization, compressor performance, gas flaring minimization and produced water treatment.
• Provide continuous surveillance over safety systems, process control systems and communications systems, and monitoring all control systems. Accurately maintain the Inhibits and override Log.
• Monitor oil, gas, water and condensate production.
• Review production profiles and assessing process impacts from changes in fluid rates including flow rates and other operating parameters.
• Maintain a comprehensive log of all production activities.
• Supervise equipment inspection and testing, including Critical Function Testing.
• Perform duties related to power generation including starting of gas turbine generators, synchronization of main generators with black start generators.
• Monitor and operate metering units in accordance with work procedures, including meter proving, and participating in Accuracy Verification Test in conjunction with customer representatives.
• Gather and compile data for production reports.
• Identify, testing and screening options for OPEX reduction and production optimization projects.
• Follow the weekly schedule, open & close work orders and initiate notifications for future work.
• Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team. Plan and participate in emergency response drills and training. Carry out emergency response duties, as required.
• Ensure the compliance with all state and federal safety and environmental rules and regulations, including the paperwork documenting.
• Must review all PTW activities, and verify proper isolations and procedures are followed and ensure SIMOPS coordination while operating in Control Room.
• Validate process and utility procedures against performance. Update procedures to drive continuous improvement philosophy.
• Assist in development of training scenarios to provide bench strength across the operations team.
• Monitor chemical injection treating volumes, chemical performance and budget.
• Must be a safety leader and maintain oversight of all activities on the facility while working as a CRO.
• Must participate in Stop Card and Hazard Hunt program.
• Must continually follow written procedures; also must review procedures for accuracy and submit changes (redlines) and MOC’s as needed. Procedures are required to be reviewed and updated every 2 years.
• Must provide training to other operators, share knowledge and mentor less experienced personnel as required.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualification
* High School Diploma required. Technician’s Diploma in a relevant discipline preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering preferred
Experience & Technical Competencies
• Minimum of ten years hydrocarbon production experience, three years of which are in a control room environment, preferably in deepwater.
• Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of hydrocarbons processing equipment, including gas compressors, in the offshore oil industry.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Demonstrated competence in emergency response and process optimization.
• Successful completion of Technician and Specialist CBTA modules.
• Computer skills commensurate with job responsibilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to coordinate activities affecting a safe and efficient operation of a plant in an often distracting and multitasking environment
• Good personal and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding and working knowledge of the relevant disciplines within the Field Operations Team (from: Control Room, Production, Mechanical, Electrical, Instruments).
• Petroleum processing fundamentals.
• Ability to work unsupervised and in a team.
• Site supervision and commissioning skills in the field including troubleshooting. Previous experience with process and flow simulation programs.
• Ability to carry out personal training to improve knowledge and skills in areas where no formal training exists.
• Demonstrate experience with Rockwell Factory Talk View SE or comparable digital control system (DCS) system.
• Able to monitor the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis, take necessary action to prevent equipment failures.
• Respond to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and execute plant shut-down and start-up procedures as required.
• Assure plant meets all requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner.
• Direct other production technicians including outside technicians to affect changes in plant conditions.
• Prepare permit to work and other safety permits and acquire appropriate approvals.
• Specific experience working in a control room environment as Control Room Operator
• Demonstrate experience with planning and schedule tools as SAP or Maximo and development of job work packs.
• Self-starter, able to work independently and solve problems with minimum supervision.
• Able to make sound, quick decisions based on the facts of the situation and remain calm and in control in a possibly deteriorating environment.
• Must be able to cope with the mental stress placed on him/herself to meet the demands of the job. Much of the job is to troubleshoot to head off any problems that might interfere with the production process.
• Must have a good understanding of topside, Sub Sea, and pipeline operations.
• The Operator will be expected to effectively manage priorities and job responsibilities with various disciplines and with work groups within and outside BHP.
• Operations Tech is expected to perform these roles with a high degree of skill in full compliance with all company policies and government regulations, ensuring a safe work environment. They are expected to work as a generalist with a specialist focus while interacting and cross training with other team members.
