ROLE PROFILE:
The Sr. Finance Analyst- Macedon provides finance advice for the Macedon capital project. The project team includes petroleum, facilities, and offshore systems engineers, subsurface managers, HSEC managers, project services personnel, and S&L project members. The Senior Finance Analyst functions as the senior finance professional for the project, which encompasses over $100 million annually in capital expenditures. This individual will work with the project manager and project team providing finance support in the areas of managerial accounting, decision support, commercial advice, risk management, and governance, including contract reviews and the identification of any finance issues. The incumbent will coordinate with the project services team to ensure accurate and timely performance reporting, monthly forecast and annual plan. In addition, the position will identify any accounting issues and submit matters for consideration. The position will review tollgate documents, and other documents requiring Finance review and endorsement.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Drive finance portion of Tollgates moving from Definition to Execution, ensure finance standards are followed and met, prepare finance sections on tollgates, IAR submissions and feasibility and execution reports and ensure compliance with standards.
* Ensure compliance with Governance (GLDs, Petroleum Approvals Framework, DOA, CART, and Contract & Commitments Standard among others.)
* Ensure compliance with project accounting standards/policies/procedures.
* Submit accounting policy recommendations for managers’ review.
* Ensure compliance with Treasury standards and coordinate any ongoing guarantee and LC requirements with Credit Advisors.
* Provide input into project cost forecasts and phasing estimates.
* Oversee development of monthly cost reports.
* Monitor Joint Venture Operating Agreement compliance as necessary with regards to Expenditures, the Annual Operating Plan, the Participation Elections, the Integrated Project Team (IPT), all JV AFEs, and all Accounting Procedures including procedures for Advances and Payments of Direct Charges and Overheads, and billing procedures with regard to IPT members. Act as representative on FinComs as necessary.
* Provide Finance review of contracts agreements (includes major developments IEPC), and drilling contracts, MSA’s)
* Provide Finance input to contracting strategies (lease versus purchase, level of pre-commitments, payment profiles, etc.)
* Provide the project with functional financial stewardship including: MOFR variance analysis, commitment reporting, joint venture accounting, project accruals, AFEs, Assets Under Construction and Fixed Assets, capitalized interest and rehabilitation provisions, G&A Overhead, SOX Compliance, six-month fraud reports and representation letters and formal stewardship reviews,
* Agree Audit Strategy with Controllers group for GAS audits, Government Audits, and JV audits. Coordinate Audit logistics at location and coordinate audit responses with Controllers group. Primary responsibility for JV communications from a finance perspective.
* Coordinate forecast/budget data from group, manage short term models, prepare forecast submission in input template form, generate PEPM reports, support the generation of commentary, submit BPS files to Global Controllers, and coordinate local process and approvals, review outputs, and provide commentary.

Reports to Vice President Finance - Development with a dotted line to the Project Manager for Macedon
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
* Possess an undergraduate degree in finance or accounting; a CPA or Chartered Accountant designation is well regarded
* An MBA, including course work in finance, is strongly preferred.
* Ten years experience in financial analysis, financial performance management, and cost management. In addition, experience in risk management, supply, information systems, legal issues, value analysis, and tax would be ideal.
* Solid base in financial and managerial accounting gained from experience in public accounting or corporate financial reporting or controller roles
* Previous experience in an exploration and production company
* The ability to manage and synthesize large amounts of information to evaluate a project, including internal and external factors.
* Superior negotiation and influencing skills.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* A self-starter who works well without direct or close supervision.
* Customer focus.
* Good problem-solving skills -- analysis, judgment, decision-making.
* Some project cost management experience would be helpful
