Sr. Geophysicist needed for a full-time employment position with a large oil and gas company in Bakersfield, CA. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in geophysics or geoscience and five to ten years petroleum industry experience. The candidate will be engaged in play generation, prospect evaluation, and screening of externally generated prospects. Responsibilities include focusing on finding and developing reserves; assisting reservoir management team in selecting and supporting new drilling opportunities; developing new play opportunities; maximizing value of current geophysical database; and considering and evaluating new technology which will assist with field delineation. Additional responsibilities include identifying, evaluating, and creating a risked inventory of exploration and exploitation prospects within new plays; screening, evaluating, and recommending participation in external generated opportunities that complement the exploration focus. Must have significant 2-D and 3-D seismic interpretation experience and proven ability to integrate.
