Material Science Engineer - Corrosion/Analysis/Marine

An immediate contract position for a Materials Engineer right in Northern VA !! A great opportunity in great area that is close to all; transportation, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Responsibilities:

-> Work with laboratories and subject matter experts to identify and implement state of the art coating, finishing solutions for aluminum and titanium forgings and castings, NBC decontaminability, signature coatings, etc
-> Work with laboratories to conduct failure analysis of parts and implement corrective actions
-> Work with laboratories and vendors to develop environmentally friendly coating systems in a marine environment
-> Provide corrosion prevention treatment material callouts to mitigate galvanic, crevice, and general corrosion also prepare corrosion prevention & control plan, finish specification, and corrosion inspection & maintenance plan for final product
-> Research available solutions to provide conductive paints, gaskets, sealants required for EMI shielding and also provide repair procedures for damaged coatings

Requirements:

-> 7 years experience required in material selection and corrosion prevention
-> Practical field and manufacturing experience with corrosion protective systems within marine environment and experience with aluminum alloys within a highly corrosive environment
-> Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
-> Ability to review material notes residing in Pro/E models
-> Bachelors Degree in Materials Science & Metallurgy
-> Occasional travel and overtime
-> US Citizen with the ability to obtain a secret clearance
