As one of Australia's most successful and well known Construction Contractors, our client has maintained and delivered their corporate goals and growth margins amidst challenging markets.

With their focus now on maintaining high order book levels and working in emerging and diverse markets, there is now a need to secure the services of an experienced Estimating Manager/2IC.

With a strong pre-construction client and supplier knowledge, the successful candidate will have prior civil engineering experience, showing an appreciation for the nature of the market place, opportunities and funding/delivery models. The ability to prepare attractive and well-considered estimates that respond to clients needs, develop written reports and costings, prepare and submit expressions of interest to clients and promoting the company's capabilities is foremost.

Strong skills in financial appraisal, risk management and commercial negotiation are well sought combined with the ability to see a problem and present a suitable, viable solution.

The ability to network through varying industry bodies and sectors is key, nurturing strong business networks and form long-standing client relationships with the senior management of Government and Institutional investors as well as with key decision-makers of local businesses is critical.

Key business skills will include delivery method and funding analysis, risk evaluation, excellent costing skills and management planning. Exposure to a variety of forms of contract from D&C to PPP will be well valued across all Civil Construction disciplines.

To deliver in this role you must have a minimum of 10 years + in tendering for Civils works valued from $1m to $1bn+, demonstrating successful win ratio's across numerous Infrastructure disciplines.

Your role will typically entail the preparation of tenders, evaluation of subcontract pricing, contract negotiating and liaison with contractors and clients thus ensuring adequate returns on resources deployed. Liaison with Engineers, project owners, Cost Consultants, Designers and Constructors as well as Design and Planning departments will be critical for you to be successful in your role.

The role has the capacity to be autonomous or team based with split of private and Government clients. You must provide strategic thinking and a level of client understanding allowing you to see the core issues. It is probably you will of worked in a facilitation and advisory role previously.

An ability to build and foster outstanding performance and relationships within the project team (direct and indirect reports) and Stakeholders will be one of your benchmarks.

You will be justifiably proud of your commercial acumen, capability and extensive construction networks and enjoy the practicality of the industry. While not essential, qualifications in Civil Engineering / Construction and/or Engineering will be well regarded.
