Government of South Australia SA Water OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR LOWER MURRAY - GOOLWA RIVER MURRAY OPERATIONS - BERRI Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this diverse and challenging position based in Goolwa. Job Responsibility: Management and supervision of the operation and maintenance, monitoring, technical investigations and construction activities of all barrages, structures and surrounds at Goolwa, Mundoo, Boundary Creek, Ewe Island and Tauwitchere and other MDBA facilities, assets and programs. Qualifications/Certificates • Essential that the applicant hold a current motor driving licence, boat operator licence and a Diploma in Management or similar qualification and experience in supervision of staff.• Desirable to have Machine Operator Licences (Forklift, crane truck) White card. Skills and Experience • Ability to manage, motivate and lead a team under limited supervision to achieve effective outcomes, operate autonomously and with integrity.• Experience in supervision of personnel and ability to communicate effectively and build relationships and trust. Demonstrated ability to implement work programs.• Understanding of the Lower Murray and the general operation of the barrage, lock and weir structures.• Good understanding of and experience in construction principles and technical practices and procedures.• Understanding of basic mechanical, electrical and civil engineering principles.• Experience in the operation and maintenance of fixed mechanical equipment, various vehicles, plant and machinery, power tools and hand tools and the ability to supervise and instruct other staff in its safe use.• Demonstrated ability to identify problems and formulate practicable solutions.• Proven ability to maintain expenditure within budget and to prepare written reports.• Have good computer skills utilising common packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.• Understanding and appreciation of the need to implement and adhere to OHS policies, procedures, regulations, guidelines and safe work practices and ensure OHS key performance indicators are achieved.• Understanding of environmental issues and land and water resource management. Special Conditions: Required to live in the Goolwa area. May be required to work at other locations as directed. Some inter and intra state travel and out of hours work may be required.
