PRIMARY PURPOSE
To coordinate and implement corrosion prevention and maintenance programs for all structures, vessels, pipe lines, platforms and equipment of the onshore and offshore facilities of Ras Laffan plant.

Responsible for all corrosion engineering and maintenance activities including detection, mitigation and prevention for all offshore and onshore facilities in Ras Laffan plant
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures efficient and cost-effective corrosion engineering and maintenance services for all onshore and offshore structures, vessels, pipelines, platforms and equipment of Ras Laffan gas production plant.
Plans, coordinates and implements corrosion monitoring, prevention and maintenance programs. Provides technical advice on strategies for repair and replacement specifications for various engineering and plant modification projects, including all metallurgical aspects, repair techniques, materials selection, inspection and testing requirements, and makes recommendations based upon field observation and corrosion management principles. Carries out performance evaluation of coating and painting conditions. Recommends best options for paint and coating systems to ensure optimum protection. Monitors corrosion rate of critical process and production equipment, structures, pipelines, vessels and piping systems of the facilities. Coordinates corrosion engineering and integrity management activities for offshore facilities including platforms and sea lines. Coordinates sealine inspections and intelligent pigging as necessary. Carries out fitness for service evaluation on existing metallurgy in equipment and pipelines. Performs life cycle cost analysis on metallurgy of process equipment and piping systems, and recommends the best options on the materials to be used. Identifies and implements corrosion mitigation ideas to improve operational performance, increase facilities integrity and reduce maintenance cost. Evaluates effectiveness of Corrosion Inhibitor programs and make recommendations based on the findings. Monitors Corrosion Probs and Projected Corrosion Rates for process equipment and piping systems based on process conditions. Participates in preparation of Capital and Operating budgets for Inspection Unit. Monitors and reconciles capital and operating expenditure against planned budget for Corrosion Management activities, and redresses any variances to ensure effective cost control. Acts as custodian of company’s Corrosion Management and Integrity Management (IMP) databases. Prepares various corrosion and integrity management reports with full interpretation and recommendations. Participates in technical studies, PID reviews, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and HAZOP’s. Complies with all company Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures. Conducts all work activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner by not taking on any task(s) that are perceived as unsafe and if in doubt, consults supervisor/manager before proceeding. Participates in HSE meetings and company QHSE promotional programs. Reports all accidents, incidents or near misses to supervisor/manager or to the QHSE Department if supervisor/manager is not available. Participates in on-the-job training of assigned Qatari developees, follows up their progress and makes recommendations on how to support their learning and progression. Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.

RequirementsEducational Requirements / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (4yrs) in Materials & Corrosion, Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
Minimum of 10-12 years experience in Corrosion Management / Integrity Management in Oil & Gas
Minimum of 8 years experience as Corrosion Engineer in oil/gas gas processing, refinery or petrochemical plant including both onshore and offshore facilities and sealines
