Mine Planning Superintendent

Our client is a mid-tier gold miner with operations in West Africa. They seek an experienced mining engineer for the position of Mine Planning Superintendent. Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, the Mine Planning Superintendent will be responsible for all short, medium and long-term planning, Life of Mine planning, budgeting and training and development of local nationals.
Other duties will include:

* Review production targets monthly against long term goals and report on variances
* Carry out design of open pits, prepare and conduct optimisations, develop and maintain ongoing ore reserve designs
* Carry out refractory ore characterization studies and planning to improve the operational performance of the Sulfide processing facility
* Ensure environmental plans are respected
* Support and communicate with mine operations personnel regarding planning and design issues
* Coordinate with Plant operations and technical personnel on ore characterization and processing capabilities and limitations
* Coordinate and communicate with Geology and Exploration on the development of geological models used for mine block model development
* Communicate and coordinate with the Environmental and Community group related to operational, community and reclamation/closure planning activities.

To be successful in the role you will have:

* Degree qualifications in Mining Engineering
* 7-10 years experience, preferably 5 or more in refractory gold open pit environment
* Computer software competency including some or all of following: Surpac, Whittle, Gemcom and Mapinfo
* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and management
* Previous work experience in a developing country environment would be an asset.
