Our client is the owner and operator of one of the world’s largest gold mines and processing facilities located in Papua New Guinea. The mine has significant gold resources and ranks among the top gold producers globally.
An opportunity currently exists for a Senior Mining Engineer – Strategic Planning within our client’s planning department. As Senior Mining Engineer – Strategic Planning you will lead the Strategic Mine Planning function to optimise the value of our client’s resource. Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, you will supervise a team of mining engineers and be responsible for:
* Identifying areas of improvement for resource model build and use within the mining planning department,
* Maximising project NPV,
* Conducting sensitivity analysis on key input parameters,
* Considering practical and strategic issues/constraints to allow development of a realistic LOM plan,
* Continual improvement by maintaining awareness of relevant technical innovation
* Developing professional staff to a world standard,
* Understanding and modelling the complex relationship between mining and processing,
* Identification of strategic issues & investigating appropriate risk mitigation,
* Maintaining a work group culture of continuous improvement in safety and environmental practices.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will be a degree qualified Mining Engineer with the following competencies:
* 5 to 10 years experience in open pit metalliferous mining, with a minimum of three years experience in a mine planning role,
* A sound awareness of operational risk management,
* Member of recognised institution for mining professionals and a sound understanding of Competent Person requirements for reserve reporting,
* A high degree of competency in mine planning software such as Minesight and Talpac, and a sound understanding of pit optimisation software,
* A sound understanding of schedule optimisation software and financial modelling.
