GIBRALTAR
Taseko Mines Limited of Vancouver, B.C. is a mining exploration, development and production company focused on creating wealth through the growth and development of current assets, as well as the acquisition of other promising projects. Taseko's main assets are the Gibraltar copper-molybdenum mine, the Prosperity gold-copper project, the Harmony Gold and Aley Niobium prospects. The Gibraltar Mine, located near the City of Williams Lake in the beautiful Cariboo region of British Columbia, is the second largest open pit copper mine in Canada with daily mill throughput of 46,000 tons. Gibraltar is currently undergoing upgrades to the mill and concentrator which will increase mill throughput to 55,000 tons per day and results in a 27 year mine life based on current reserves. The Prosperity Project is a large undeveloped gold-copper resource located 125 km south west of Williams Lake. Prosperity is anticipated to have both Provincial and Federal Environmental Assessment Certificates early in 2010 and to begin construction with the expectation to start production in 2012.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager of Mining will be responsible for:
* Supervising the Heads of the Mine Operations, * Mine Maintenance, and Mine Engineering Departments in order to maximize cost-effective production while maintaining a long-term sustainable safe and environmentally sound mining operation.
* Providing objective setting and feedback in order to achieve continuously improving departmental performance.
* Consulting with the General Manager and Manager of Milling, in addition to Senior Staff, to set production quotas, development and implementation of long and short-range mine plans.
* Developing geological and mine models and ensuring timely and functional permitting for the maximum value extraction of the Gibraltar mineral deposit.
* Preparation of material, maintenance, and manpower budgets. Monitoring and controlling departmental expenditures ensuring that production and cost targets are achieved on time and within budget.
* Evaluating mine operations efficiencies to determine adequacy of personnel, equipment and technologies utilized; modifying work schedules or equipment, as required.
* Overseeing and guiding technological change and operational advancements in mining processes and practices.
* Negotiating and selecting suppliers and contractors to ensure necessary materials, capital equipment, and other activities are available at competitive prices to meet the needs of the operation.
* Ensuring that high standards of safety and environmental compliance are achieved in accordance with the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mine Engineering with eligibility for Professional registration with APEGBC.
* Minimum 10 years relevant work experience.
* Strong team building and leadership skills combined with superior analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* A proven track record in open pit mine operations.
* A desire and ability to accept challenges and cultivate personal career goals and rewards in a growing and dynamic company environment.
