Barrick (Granny Smith) Pty Ltd is located 950kms north east of Perth and 23kms south of Laverton and has been one of Australia’s leading gold producers for the last 15 years. With continued growth in our underground mining operations and an exciting exploration portfolio, the projected mine life is 5 years based on the current reserves.

Granny Smith Gold Mine has a 12 month contract position available for a Trades Assistant with Plumbing/gas fitting experience in a processing plant on a FIFO roster,

Tasks and Responsibilities
Assist with the Maintenance & housekeeping of all maintenance work places – in the workshops, on the fixed plant and in the maintenance lay-down yard.
Sentry duties for confined space entry
Assist with general maintenance requirements of the Fixed Plant equipment.
Maintain Sewerage treatment plant and sewerage pumps across site.
Carry out like for like component change outs on industrial gas equipment such as Laboratory furnaces, ovens, carbon regeneration kilns and elution heaters.
General plumbing repairs in plant toilets, repairing leaking taps, cisterns, clearing blockages etc.
Perform all tasks in a safe manner that will comply with the WA Mines Safety regulations and Barrick Safety policies and procedures

Requirements
Current Australian Manual Drivers Licence.
Class B Gas license
Forklift certificates is essential.
Nationally accredited confined space training certificates
Ability to perform basic fitting / mechanical / welding tasks.
Familiar with mine site Fixed Plant equipment
Good written and oral ‘English’ communication skills.

To be considered for this contract position you will have to meet the above criteria and you must be able to pass a pre-employment medical including D&A screen and GSDU clearance (police clearance)
