The Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Program is the most challenging and innovative Defence Project in South Australia and also one of the largest Defence Projects nationally. As part of this high-profile project, we are now looking for an experienced Senior Technician - Combat Systems Support.

Reporting directly to the Activation Manager this role will be responsible for participating and supporting the conduct of Activation and Test & trials for the AWD Weapon/Combat Systems from installation until ship delivery. This role will act as the point of contact between the combat system integrator and shipyard production during Activation (set to work) and Test and Trials activities.

Other key responsibilities of the role include: –

Supervision of production labour during Activation and Test & Trials.

Provision of on-the-job training of junior Systems Technicians.

Liaison with customers and sub-contractors for Test & Activations Activities.

Obtaining and maintaining competencies to operate allocated systems and equipments.

Participating in audits relating to Test and Activation.

To be successful in this role, you will possess an Advanced Diploma in an Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent and extensive experience within a maritime, defence or dockyard environment. Also required for this role is sound knowledge of Naval Ship Weapon/Combat Systems. Experience within a Test and Evaluation environment coupled with a proficiency in the use of general office software products are also be essential for this role. A Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) coupled with an understanding of System Engineering and Requirements Management including use of DOORS as well as supervisory skills would also be desirable for this role.

Applicants must be eligible for Australian Department of Defence security clearance.
