Barrick Gold Corporation is today the world’s largest gold mining company. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada – Barrick currently has a portfolio of 27 mining operations, many advanced exploration projects located across five continents and a large land position on the world’s most prolific and prospective mineral trends. Nine of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.

Barrick Yilgarn FIFO mines (Plutonic, Lawlers, Darlot and Granny Smith) are serviced by the Yilgarn Shared Services team based in Perth. The four operations process over 3.3 million tonnes of ore per annum producing in excess of 480koz in 2009. The combined Barrick Yilgarn FIFO mines are one of the largest employers in the region.

In the role of Human Resources Manager you will report to the Yilgarn Shared Services General Manager and accept responsibility for the development, implementation and management of human resources systems and policies for Yilgarn Shared Services, to ensure optimal deployment of the workforce across the fours sites and is aligned to the long and short term business objectives. The role is Perth based, however you will be required to travel to the various Yilgarn sites within Western Australia on a regular basis.

Overall responsibility:

• Deliver the annual Workforce Plan to enable the business to meet the Life of Mine Plan
• Develop an annual Plan to determine the human resources service commitment requirements to enable the business to meet the Life of Mine Plan
• Develop and manage systems for the provision of human resource management services, talent management, recruitment and the maintenance of the Yilgarn Payroll Master File
• Ensure the integration of human resources policies and processes across the Yilgarn sites complement the Barrick Corporate and Regional HR Policies
• Assist the Leaders in developing strategies to address the key people-related issues of the Yilgarn operations customers
• Ensure the required level of human resources support is delivered to the Yilgarn Operations to agreed cost, quality, quantity and schedule
• Maintain a formal management reporting system that incorporates performance statistics, any applicable statutory requirements and business improvement initiatives
• Assist the General Manager in developing the overall business strategy, particularly in regard to people and staffing for the operations

Preferred candidates will demonstrate a significant depth of HR generalist experience at a management level. Additional key requirements include the demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective HR strategies as well as a strong problem solving ability supported by analytical, negotiation and influencing skills. You will also be results driven and able to manage change within a dynamic environment. Formal qualifications in HR or a related discipline is essential and experience in the mining & resources industry would be advantageous.
