Job Description:
The Geoscience Technician is responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the Domestic Exploration business unit of this Fortune 500 oil and gas exploration and production company.
ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• General G&G Support: maintain Geoframe projects/Paradigm including well and culture loading, as well as provide general support for applications including IESX and Petra (will also include minor admin support)
• Data Management: (Paper-based and electronic / digital)
• Shared Network - organize, populate and maintain shared director for the department. Control all access issues
• Scanning files, then QC'ing digital files for data quality
• GIS Mapping - responsible for working with industry and departmental data by populating, maintaining, and accessing information through company supported GIS programs
• Presentation Co-ordination: assist in creating templates and presentations for department
• Loading & entering, verifying, manipulating and reporting multiple types of technical data including well logs and seismic data
• Building and maintaining departmental database with special emphasis on Petra and ArcGIS
• Under minimal supervision perform selection, analysis and interpretation of technical data
• Perform internal and external data base and web searches to support technical team
• Recommend design improvements to data and workflow procedures
• Monitor new technology developments for application to project tasks
• May serve as liaison to corporate Information Systems personnel
Qualifications
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
• Strong software skills in Landmark or Geoframe
• Proficiency with Petra, ArcGIS, IHS Enerdeq, Petrel, R2V, NeuraLog, UAM, Petris Winds
• Experience with Paradigm a plus
• Understanding of Geological Workflows and Geological Data,
• Powerpoint, Excel and MS Project a plus
• Strong interpersonal, communication skills to work effectively in collaborative team environment
• Exceptional administrative and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, make preparatory plans, schedule, identify and define key responsibilities with minimal supervision and deliver work on time
EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of (5) years relative experience in an Oil & Gas, Geoscience technical support role
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High School diploma or equivalent required
