Contract senior level position in the mining sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo,
Salary up to US$160 000 tax free per annum depending on skills and experience plus Bonus of 25%.
Reports to: Functional: Audit Committee; Administrative: Chief Operating Officer
Supervises: Internal Auditor
This is a single status position. Also a residential position as opposed to a fly-in-fly-out position. Ample leave is provided for with a travelling allowance paid per annum in addition to the annual package specified.
ROLE PURPOSE
Independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve Company's operations. Helping the Company to accomplish its business objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
• Professional Finance/Accounting qualification (CA, CPA or CIA)
• Graduate in Business Administration or Finance
• 10 years of professional experience and at least 5 years as an internal Auditor in mining/metallurgical plant or manufacturing/production environment.
• Able to communicate with senior management at all levels
• Experience and know-how of risk management (COSO II, AS/NZ Standards) and internal control framework (COSO) and how to implement them into the organization.
• Application of Risk Management Based Auditing in major areas (supply/logistics, HR/payroll, finance/treasury, accounting, capital projects, HSEC, IT, production/maintenance)
• Planning and execution of internal audits according to International Professional Practices Framework from the Institute of Internal Audit (USA, FL) and according to annual audit plan approved by Audit Committee
• Audit Management Software (Team Mate, Auto Audit, others)
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent command in English, whereas French is desirable
• Able to work in a multinational environment
• Previous mining experience/having worked in Africa beneficial
• Ready to work in a challenging / remote environment of DRC
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Establishing organisational structure and operational process of the audit function to ensure it adds value to the company (10%).
• Hiring and developing internal audit resources (can also be outsourcing) to achieve approved audit plan
• Create/maintain internal audit charter and internal audit manual
• Create/maintain audit methods and tools (templates, working papers, reports, etc.) to be able to deliver outstanding risk and audit management services in accordance with International Professional Practices Framework (source: Institute of Internal Auditors, USA, FL)
• Supervise, lead and guide internal auditors in their work
2. Establish risk-based plans to determine the priorities of the internal audit activity, consistent with the organisation's goals (5%)
3. Ensure the effective and efficient achievement of the internal audit process (60%)
• In accordance with the annual activity plan, carry out the identified specific functional audits and provide an efficient means of reporting and reviewing findings and an improvement plan to ensure compliance and adherence to organizational policies
• Prepare reports that are direct, professional and constructive, thereby adding value to the company and its management
• Perform ad hoc audits / fraud reviews due to business concerns as instructed by the Audit Committee and investigate fully to manage and mitigate risk, providing a full report of findings
• Provide action points, recommendations and rank in order of concern and priority •Follow-up with an audit review to assess the implementation of recommendations

5. Maintain Business Risk Register and Execution Of Business Risk Management Audits (20%)
• Carry out risk workshops or interviews with management
• Continuously update business risk register
• Follow up and report on management actions
• Perform business risk management audits
