Sales opportunity to work independently from home! Leading Houston, Texas based specialty chemical manufacturer seeks a proven, and highly technical Sales Engineer. Looking for applicants who have a track record of growing specialty chemical sales. Relocation not required. Sales Engineer can live anywhere in the U.S. Must have a petrochem or organic chemistry background. Requires 50% overnight domestic travel. Competitive base + bonus offered!

Responsibilities:

-> Develop and manage annual sales plan in support of company strategy and objectives
-> Manage sales territory is the USA, with account concentrations in the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast
-> Make regular sales calls to develop & maintain relationships with existing and potential customers
-> Service existing accounts by obtaining demand forecasts and maintaining acceptable price levels
-> Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports
-> Develop new accounts in targeted market segments and make cold calls to identify potential customers
-> Establish and maintain industry contacts that lead to sales
-> Submit activity and results reports, such as, call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses to management
-> Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops; reviewing professional pubs; participating in professional societies

Requirements:

-> Undergraduate degree in Chemical / Petrochemical / Engineering AND minimum of 5 years of related field sales experience in the chemical industry
-> Proven successful technical sales background within the specialty chemical field
-> Customer contacts within the chemical and petrochem industry
-> Strong proven prospecting and closing skills
-> High level of self motivation and direction, and ability to achieve goals independently
-> Willingness to travel 50%+ overnight to accomplish agreed sales goals
-> Knowledge of entire selling process and Excellent oral & written communication skills
-> Proficient at using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
-> Strong skills in new account development, sales negotiation, and communicating technical information
