THE ROLE
CCL has been requested by a leading international oil and gas contractor to source a Lead Piping Engineer. Client would prefer candidate based in Houston / within travelling distance. Willing to travel if required to participate in HAZOPs, project reviews, fabrication site visits Only US citizens or residents should apply. Very good career prospects within a world famous company. This is being handled by the Houston office.
THE PERSON
Minimum 10 years experience in offshore or marine Piping Engineering. Assist with job interviews, makes salary recommendations, conducts performance reviews and makes recommendations for hiring. Responsible for engineering quality and timeliness in a highly cross-functional engineering environment. Able to develop piping schematics and layouts based on customer requirements and specifications. Prepares documentation, information and communications, Engineering Change Notices, specifications and ensures conformance to policies relating to engineering procedures, functions and systems. Provides technical follow up and support on piping matters, from proposal stage to aftermarket, including vendor comparison and selection, fabrication site support, installation, start-up and operation. Responds to classification and customer comment letters. Can organize work, monitor, report and achieve progress to schedule. Prepares documentation, reports, correspondence, procedures, specifications and technical calculations. Provides input to project scheduling for dependencies, durations and manpower requirements. Develops plans for sharing resources among competing projects, including management of subcontractors.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
BS Mechanical Engineering. Expert in offshore piping design and codes. Expert with piping components materials / specifications (such as ASME B16.5 for flange dimensions / ratings, ASTM A105 as common material for forged flanges etc.). Good knowledge of spreadsheets and data bases a definite plus. Capable of strength of materials / structural calculations to support pipe design and verification. Prepare for / participate in HAZID studies / HAZOPs. Ensure HAZOP actions / recommendations are appropriately answered / closed out. Familiarity with risk assessment concepts and methods. Responsible for supporting risk assessment studies conducted for projects. Basic knowledge of offshore production process requirements / capable of developing P&IDs from customer specifications. Basic understanding of process requirements and operations. Experience in use of pipe stress analysis programs, AutoCAD, PDMS, in-house programs Algor and Caesar II. Ability to perform pressure drop, MTOs / center of gravity calculations. AutoCAD. Should be fluent in written and spoken English. US citizens or Green Card holders only.
