Relay Technician - Relay/Test/Transformer 30-45 $/hr

A leading Electrical Testing Contractor urgently needs up to 10 Electrical Relay Test technicians with distribution, generation and transmission relay experience for contract work, starting in October and lasting through the end of the year. Work is in various locations throughout California, and travel to the spots will be required. Travel expenses and per diem is provided.

Responsibilities:

-> Test and calibrate electromechanical and solid state relays, including various manufacturers such as GE, Westinghouse, Schweitzer, Basler and Beckwith
-> Inject current to verify current transformer ( CT ) and potential transformer ( PT ) primary and secondary circuits and correct phase rotation
-> Perform in service load checks on newly commissioned equipment

Requirements:

-> 3 to 25 years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing protective relays on high voltage substations, transmission lines, and generation stations
-> Must be able test and calibrate electromechanical and micro-processor based protective relays
-> Capable of troubleshooting distribution and transmission controls circuits
-> Understand both current transformers ( CT ) and potential transformers ( PT )
-> Truck and test equipment furnished by client
-> Must provide your own hand tools and multi-meter
-> Extensive travel to client locations in California
