Location: Saudi Arabia POSITION DESCRIPTION: The incumbent will operate across the technology management function, initially supporting ongoing activities and acting as a coordinator of internal technical teams, to ensure consistency with strategic directions, leading to increasing emphasis on managing personal projects as a team leader in the area of intelligence gathering and collaboration development with outside research and industrial entities for a given portfolio of interest areas.
A successful candidate will be expected to: Be assigned to large-scale/complex projects that require substantial materials expertise. The total value for material procurement on such projects can range from $100 Million to $1.5 Billion. Supervises/coordinates all material related activities to ensure a high caliber of materials support services are provided, including contract documents from the project proposal through the construction phase of the project. Candidate will serve as the senior project materials management coordinator providing supervision and functional guidance on all project materials management issues. Candidate will have daily contact with Senior Project Managers, Project management Team members and Materials Supply management to effectively plan and implement all project material management activities. Other contacts include contractor materials management personnel, Saudi Aramco Projects & Strategic Purchasing Department personnel and as well as major world-wide equipment suppliers. Candidate will establish an integrated materials management infrastructure on the project(s) that ensures conformance to all contract materials provisions, on-time delivery of material, equipment and on-material requirement data and accurately reporting progress and highlighting exceptions. Candidate will provide expertise and guidance to the contractor in preparing and establishing all material plans/procedures to ensure compliance with the project execution plan and contract.
SELECTION CRITERIA: The materials specialist candidate should have a minimum ten (10) years experience required. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Management. Master's Degree in a related field and professional certification is desirable. Experience in Project Management, Purchasing, Materials Management. Candidate should have experience as manager or supervisor of a design and/or construction contractor's purchasing department. SAP experience is desirable.
COMMENTS: The Inspection Department is charged with the corporate responsibility for inspection of materials and equipment purchased, and equipment and facilities constructed for Saudi Aramco. The incumbent will be assigned to the Inspection Department's Operations Division, Plant Integrity Unit where incumbent will have frequent contacts with operating Division and Unit Heads to ascertain problems, define scope of projects, and develop solutions. There will be occasional contact with Managers and infrequent contact with Executive Management in responding to inquiries or presenting conclusions of their research. In addition, there will be frequent contacts with suppliers of data and information such as estimating engineers and construction engineers.
