Based in our Brisbane office, the Project Development Group (PDG) is tasked with becoming a Centre of Excellence for the undertaking of studies and delivery of significant and sustaining capital projects within BMA. The Project Development Group provides project delivery services to BMA through the management of all phases of the investment life cycle.
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer focusing specifically on Longwall Top Coal Caving Projects. The successful applicant will enable mechanical engineering aspects of identified underground projects utilising LTCC and asset developments, are identified and developed to allow the projects to be delivered safely, on time and budget and within specified scope, quality and investment criteria boundaries. Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Longwall Top Coal Caving, specific responsibilities include:
* Mechanical Engineering aspects of Selection and Definition Studies to enable the evaluation and introduction of Longwall Top Coal Caving.
* Mechanical Engineering support of Execution and Operational activities to deliver safe and productive LTCC operations.
* Assisting in the preparation of budgets and development of relevant schedules and ensuring these are closely managed, monitored and accurately reported.
* Assisting in the formulation and management of project execution strategies.
* Ensuring relevant engineering study deliverables are identified and managed in accordance with the Company Investment Process Manual, Capital Investment Standards, and Enterprise Wide Risk Management requirements.
* Establishing and maintaining close working relationships with relevant mine site engineering functions to ensure expectations are highly developed, understood and achieved.
* Developing constructive and mutually beneficial relationships with relevant suppliers, consultants and contractors.
* Ensuring suppliers, consultants and contractors understand and follow company systems and procedures.
* Ensuring that contractors are managed, to achieve BMA’s specified performance in terms of deliverables, time, safety, cost & quality and compliance with BMA contractual requirements.
With extensive mechanical engineering experience, the successful applicant will have worked on multiple longwall projects and engineering operations in underground coal mines or similar environments. Degree qualified, you will have demonstrated working knowledge of owners’ team project management, having previously overseen EPCM contractors and third party service providers, managing the entire process from feasibility through to execution. Demonstrable understanding of general project management concepts and processes, longwall technology, computerise control systems, estimating tools, scheduling software and change / trend management will further hold you in good stead for this position.
